The long awaited sequel to 2020’s critically acailmed Microsoft Flight Simulator has dropped on November 19 as Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 but not without it’s major issues which have plagued it’s launch.
Constant crashes, infinite loading times and awful cloud texture streaming bugs, have been a sad sight to see for many fans.
The infinite queue to play
After getting through the sometimes extremely long loading screen, players are met with a queue to log in which can last upto hours due to server issues and large amounts of people trying to access the newly released simulator at the same time which is leading many players discouraged and unhappy.
“Login Queue: Too many users are trying to log in at the same time. You have been placed in the queue. Please wait a few minutes or try again later.”
Cloud texture streaming leaving a bad taste
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 heavily relies on cloud texture streaming reducing it’s file size to only 50 gigabytes compared to 2020’s iteration taking a whopping 150 gigabytes.
But it isn’t all sunshine and rainbows as cloud texture streaming has it’s issues with constantly requiring an active internet connection leaving a bad taste along with the many bugs coming in with this feature.
Fan Reception & Rating
On steam the game has been bombed with overwhelmingly negative reviews as fans release their frustrations on the product they have purchased which hasn’t matched quite upto the standards but this of course is subject to change.
Addresses by the developers
With all of these issues, the team at Asobo Studios has addressed issues in a recent video with the Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Jorg Neumann, and Sebastian Wloch, Current CEO and Co-founder of Asobo Studios.
Neuman started with,
“We knew the excitement was high for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, but frankly we completely underestimated how high and it really has overwhelmed our infrastructure.”
Wolch proceeded to then began explain thoroughly,
“We’ve been struggling for a few hours with one of our services,
“In Flight Sim 2024, there are a few new systems in the sim. People have noticed in the career mode there’s all sorts of missions, and when players at the very beginning when they start, they’re asking a server for some data, and that server is going to cache it in a database. It’s a pretty big database and there is a cache, and that cache is currently getting saturated.
“It’s a cache that has been thoroughly tested during the whole Tech Alpha. We’ve done load tests simulating 200,000 users, and tonight it’s just completely overwhelmed.”
Wloch then began to explain that they had tried restarting the services along with taking measures to throttle the amount of people coming in to play.
At this point of time the team at asobo is hard at work making sure the services of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 are up and running so players can finally have a taste of this newly released simulator.
What’s Next?
With it’s developers addressing the issues, it’s clear that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has a bright future ahead once it’s fixed and wins the hearts of many discouraged players.
